D23: Light Up The Season

It's that time of year, where families and friends get together to spread holiday cheer! Everyone loves the holidays, and one of my favorite yearly events is the annual Light Up the Season holiday party for members of the D23 fan club. It is hosted at the Walt Disney Studio Lot, and includes fun vendors, complimentary treats, festive fun and games, and more!

By the time we arrived, the sun was starting to set, and the lot was beautiful. Even though it doesn't snow here in southern California, we really started to feel the holiday magic once the sun had set and it started to get (a little bit) colder. When you arrive, there might be a bit of a line, so I suggest arriving fashionably late. Once you get inside, there is so much to see and do, so I will take you through my thoughts and recommendations on how to do Light Up the Season.

After getting through the admissions line, you receive a wristband and an event guide. The wristband is for certain activities, treats, and more at the party, and the guide gives brief summaries of the most popular things to see and do.

Giving and Doing Good

Adjacent to the Disney Legends plaza is a small area dedicated to helping others and those in need. Activities like making paracord bracelets for members of the Military, helping paint a piece for the local children's hospital, and assembling care packages for children in need. This whole section reminds me of an annual event at my temple called Mitzvah Day

Food and Treats

Disney has been known for upping their seasonal food game each year, and this year was no exception. This year's selection had great quality food from the Disney commissary at an affordable rate! My favorites throughout my 4 years of going to this event include the vegetable pot pie, the baked mac n' cheese, and the potato taquitos (not on this menu, from a previous event). A good thing about this food is that they give you a ton of food for what you paid.

Another cool (food) thing about this event, is that there is complimentary cookies (above) and popcorn (not pictured). The cookies are really good, and the flavors vary year to year. There is also free cocoa, hot cider, and punch.

Holiday Memories From the Walt Disney Archives

This exhibit blew me away. I was envisioning an artifact from Disney history, maybe 2, but this outdid all expectations for me. Just look at this slideshow! (click to switch photos).

I love every inch of this event and am sure to come back next year! It is a great family experience and highly recommend it to anyone who gets as festive as we do this holiday season.

Happy holidays and thank you for reading,

Ella
