Our Visit to Scum and Villainy
Scum and Villainy, a Star Wars themed pop-up restaurant located in the "Black Hole" of Hollywood, is now a permanent restaurant, so to celebrate, I thought it would be fitting to post a rundown of our S+V experience. But since we visited when Scum and Villainy was still a pop-up, our experiences may vary from yours. Let's begin!
1. Arrival
When we arrived, we parked at a nearby lot and got into a line to get into the restaurant. While we were in line, staff members came around and gave everyone wooden coins (for beverages and food). We got in after about 15 minutes of waiting.
2. Food, Drinks, Music and More
Scum and Villainy gives off nerdy vibes like no other. They serve "wretched blue milk" among other humorously named cocktails. There weren't any specific non-alcoholics, so we had to special order them. The food part of the menu consisted of tater tots with various toppings, quesadillas, and tacos. Electro Swing music is on Shuffle and really adds to the Mos Eisley Cantina-y feel of this place. Smoke, fog, and beams of light are strategically added during appropriate parts of the music. Overall, very similar to the popular bar in the Star Wars movies.
3. Personal Experiences
The atmosphere at S+V is authentic, but maybe too authentic. While trying to get a seat for Milo, we encountered a few scums and villains ourselves, as no one was willing to give up a chair for a tired kid. At one point, Milo even resorted to sitting on the filthy floor. After numerous failed attempts to find a seat, we eventually gave up and decided to talk to the staff. Luckily, the staff was more understanding of our situation than our fellow restaurant-goers and were very disappointed to hear that some of the full-grown adults were behaving like that. They offered us discounts and other offers, but in the end, My Mom and Milo decided to leave, but my Dad and I stayed. Right after Milo and my Mom left, a kind couple offered us their seats, but before we could accept or refuse the offer, the 2 people sitting across from them happened to be leaving.
In conclusion, Scum and Villainy is a great experience and it all depends on which people are there when you are. Since S+V is becoming permanent, you will automatically get seats, like any other restaurant. So go when possible and get your blue milk on!
Hope you enjoyed!
